The 2017 Nenin is a blend of 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Franc and has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It features fragrant notes of warm black cherries, black raspberries, and violets, leading to hints of cinnamon toast, potpourri, and dusty soil. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft and elegantly fruited, delivering loads of fragrant layers and a red berry finish.

Precise and sculpted, rippling with blackberry, redcurrant fruits, with a touch of slate minerality and restrained mint leaf freshness on the finish. You can feel the deft winemaking bringing out the detail on the tannins, and at five years old it is blossoming, and full of pleasure - not as long living as the 2016 or 2018, but excellent quality. 35% new oak. This was a frost year, with the lowest yield on record at 14.5hl/h, meaning less than half of the usual amount of 1st wine, with just 15,000 bottles. 3.75ph, 40% new oak.

The 2017 Nénin only comes from the plateau as frost devastated the lower reaches. It has a well-defined bouquet, nicely focused with blackberry, briary and crushed stone aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, very refined, not as deep or as opulent as the previous vintage but chiseled and very focused on the peppery finish. Very fine, a Nénin that does not show off like the 2018 because (whisper it quietly), this is better.

Pomerol, a prestigious Bordeaux Right Bank appellation, is famous for luxurious, velvety red wines primarily based on Merlot, often blended with Cabernet Franc. Top producers include Château Pétrus, known for its depth and ageing potential; Château Le Pin, celebrated for purity and finesse; and Château La Conseillante and Château Trotanoy, known for elegance and power.
